12 dec 2009
It is the last day of the juniors and I think from memory the most days the juniors have flown in a national competition. Today is the day to sort out the top 5 competitors as any of them can upset the apple cart.
All but one person made it around yesterday and the day turned out to be better than it looked.
Today's task if a fixed task and goes to Eumungerie, then to Nevertire, down to Tomingley and home which is a 266km task. Launching is at 1300 if the weather is a predicted. I can see a line of cirus to the north of us and if that at stays there Beryl says it should be a great day.
The decisions that were made!!!

11 dec 2009

Well at 1430 the fleet is launched. We had a change of task from Warren, Albert and Narromine being 100km minimum and 300km on the outside. The task was changed to Tullamore with 30km circle, Peak Hill with 25km circle and then home. The day is expected to finish around 1700.
Yesterday was cancelled and we took the kids to the park for fish and chips at lunch time. At one stage I saw Ashley hanging from the goal post and I am sure she couldn't get up there by herself so someone left her stranded. I think there are some knights in shining armour around because she was rescued when I looked later.
The kids then has pizza and movies to finish the day back at the clubhouse.
Until later (julie Maddocks)
10th Dec 2009
Today we woke up to overcast and it very shortly after that started to rain then back to overcast. Today was posponed at 10am so we had a pilots meeting that bought up a few subjects worth noting. We are thinkiing of including up to 30yr olds as an addition to the competition but not part of the junior competition. We also decided to make next years competition a club class based competition to reduce the performance gap. More details are in the minutes and will be discussed later so look out for these points in the future.
After the meeting finished another assesment of the weather was made and it was still overcast with the sun temporarily poking through just to tempt us. The day was cancelled and the hole closed over so now is as horrible as it was when we woke up.
I will attempt to put some photos on the site from yesterday.
Until tomorrow (Julie Maddocks)
9th Dec 2009
Everyone is home but reports are that the day was up to 4,800ft (usually only 4,000ft) down to about 2,000ft. A bit of a struggle but quite sucessful.
They are off and racing and are due home at about 4pm or later.
Yet another day 3 This is because yesterday was cancelled due to strong winds which was the right decision according to Shinzo who took a very rough launch. He then proceeded to climb up into sheer wave with Willi who is one of our junior competitors. What an experience.
The time was passed yesterday by firstly going to the lake followed by playing some lawn bowls, then to the pub and finally back to the club to entertain Beryl.
Briefing was short and sweet with Shinzo giving a briefing on sheer wave and he had some of the photos from yesterday.
Today's task is a racing task of 206.4 km which goes to Tomelin then Warren and home. The day is expected to be about 3 hours of good 5-6kts. We are due to launch at 1300, so here's for a good day. (Julie Maddocks)
Hi All and its day 3 of the comp
The day is fine with high cirus creeping across the sky from 9.30am. The temp. is hitting the 40c's with the wind sock standing straight out. It is 1.30pm and the day has just been retasked to the 3 pubs in town.

07-12-09 08:40 - One outlanding yesterday, Steph from Tassie. The guys generally had a good day though. Andrew Maddocks took out the day with a respectable speed. 3 coaching flights went up. They experienced heights of up to 8,000ft and approx 5 knots. Matthew Scutter from Adelaide Soaring Club declared a 300km task and achieved it. We had the local WIN News crew here taking footage of the flying and interviewing the pilots. We should be on the local news sports segment tonight perhaps. Today is looking like a great day. Shinzo seems to think 1000km could be on the cards. The day should be starting by 11, but we are going for a Midday launch followed by a 4 hour AAT task allowing distances between 301km and 630km. Heights should be in excess of 10,000ft with climbs of 7kts. Should be a fun day for all bar the ones on the ground :( Heath L'Estrange
06-12-09 08:40 - All of our pilots got home yesterday. New junior on the block; Matthew Scutter took out the day and did a very respectable speed againts the NSW comp club class boys. Today has dawned calm and blue, hopefully it will be a bit better than yesterday. Heath L'Estrange
05-12-09 15:40 - 5 Pilots have launched for practise day tasking and one pilot is being coached. It is what has been reported as a soft sky, but more specifically is blue and probably a few knots to 6000ft. The juniors were launched behind the NSW comp fleet for a 2 hour AAT with a min distance of 150km. I think it will be a day to use others and not be alone. There should be plenty of fibre glass in the sky with the NSW comp gliders leading the way. Our 2 international competitors are competing in the NSW comps today and will head straight into our Day 1 tasking tomorrow. Willi, the Japanese pilot says the conditions over the past week at Narromine are by far the best he has ever seen. Heath L'Estrange
05-12-09 09:30 - Most pilots have now arrived at Narromine. The NSW state comps have had some fantastic weather, with heights of over 13,000ft achieved yesterday. The madpups flew in excess of 400km. The weather today will be somewhat more challenging. The NSW comps rap up tonight with the final night dinner promising to be a good show. An assigned area task is set today giving the juniors plenty of options to push themselves or coast around a short distance. We hope to have real time scoring happening this afternoon on soaring spot. As the guys submit their traces, they will be on soaring spot. Will update more later after a 1-2pm launch.
